Citizen Facilitation Centre of Engineering Department @Deluxe building Sector 9

Chandigarh May 1, 2006:- The Adviser to the Administrator, Chandigarh Administration, Mr. Lalit Sharma today inaugurated the Citizen Facilitation Centre of Engineering Department which has been set up in additional Deluxe building Sector 9 to facilitate the citizens of Chandigarh and enable them to lodge their complaints related to Engineering Department at a single number 4639999. The centre which will work round the clock through out the year will make the registration of complaints much more easier and also speed up redressal of the grievances. Presently, there are around 35 complaint centres at various locations under Engineering Dept. A consumer has to refer/remember quite a few numbers to register his complaints. Also during power failure etc. single line available with existing complaint centres go busy due to heavy rush of calls, adding further to the woes of the aggrieved consumers.
The aim of the centre is to make complaint lodging and its redressal a lot more easier. To man this centre, the operators will work in three shifts. The consumers can make calls at number 4639999 which will be received at any of the four lines available at the Facilitation Centre. The operator will convey the complaint number to the consumer and then forward the complaint to the concerned department. To facilitate this, 35 mobiles sets have been provided to the Call Operators and SSAs/Work Inspectors/JEs of the existing complaint centres. Depending upon the nature of the complaint, the field staff of the existing complaint centres will give time for redressal which will be conveyed back to the consumer. A supervisor of the department will be present during all the shifts in the centre for overall monitoring.
The other features of the system include complaints pending after one hour, two hours and three hours of their lodging shall be intimated to the concerned SDO, XEN and SE respectively. Similarly, intimation of major break downs in an area after dust/hail storms/heavy rains will be conveyed to the SDO, XEN and SE concerned of the area. Furthermore, the reports will be sent twice a day to the XENs and SEs and fortnightly to the Chief Engineer regarding details of the complaints lodged, redressed and pending which will help monitoring at higher levels. The Daily power shut down report will also be available with the Centre.
