End less polio Campaign

The Director Health Services, U.T., Chandigarh, Dr.Inderjeet Kaur Walia has today said that the Health Department is fully geared for complete eradication of polio from the city inspite of the fact that no case of Polio has been detected in Chandigarh for the last three years. While addressing a press conference, Dr.Walia has disclosed that for Pulse Polio Immunization to be held on April 9, 2006 as many as 442 booths and 19 mobile teams manned by 2000 vaccinators have been set up to cover the whole city. She has further added that because of the migratory population it has become imminent to cover each and every part of Chandigarh. The Mayor and councilors of the Municipal Corporation, NGOs, Panches, Sarpanches and religious leaders have also been requested to mobilize people from various sections of the society to get their children immunized against Polio at various Pulse Polio Immunization booths.
