Festival of Gardens this year will be celebrated from February 24 to 26 in the Rose Gardens

Chandigarh, February 22:- The three-day annual Festival of Gardens this year will be celebrated from February 24 to 26 in the Rose Gardens and Leisure Valley, Sector 10 of Chandigarh .The attractions at Rose Garden will include Morning Raga, Photo Exhibition, flower competition, Brass and Pipe Band Competition, Folk performance, joy rides, Tambola and eatables. At Leisure valley there will be pavilion of ‘Tourism in North India’, including ChandigarhTourism, Haryana Tourism, Punjab Tourism, Uttranchal Tourism, Himachal Tourism, ‘Cinematic Tourism’, ‘Rural Tourism’, ‘Medical Tourism’ joyrides, fun, frolic, food and music. .The Festival will be inaugurated by the Governor of Punjab &Administrator, U.T., Chandigarh, Gen. (Retd.) S. F. Rodrigues at 11a.m.on the February 24. On the same day he will also inaugurate the Green Belt in Sector 38, Chandigarh. Folk Dance Competition which will be held on February 24 at 1.30 pm which will be followed by Morning Raga on February 25 and 26 at 7.30 a.m. at Rose Garden.` The wife of Governor of Punjab and Administrator, U.T., Chandigarh, Mrs.Jean Rodrigues will be the chief guest of Rose Prince and Princess contest which will be held on February 25 at 10.30 a.m. On the same day, there will be Photography Competition at 11.30 a.m. with Ms. Renu Saigal, Chief Architect as Chief Guest and Rose Quiz Competition at 2.30 p.m. OnFebruary 26 there will be on the spot Painting Competition at 10.30 a.m.will be held at 11.40 a.m. On February 25 there will be a Hasaya Kavi Sammelan Featuring NationalLevel Poets. On February 26, 2006, the festival will conclude with famous singer Sonu Nigam performing to enthrall the audience.This year the Jan Marg will be kept open for general traffic. There will be no Commercial Stalls during the event. Any other commercial events during the same dates in any other part of the city would not be part of the Festival of Gardens.
